Hi Oscar,

Attached is a note of appreciation from one of our staff (chinese girl) which was printed in our monthly newsletter.(click to view the note)

Primavera Australia has been enjoying the shows put on by Melgoans for the last 4 years (we have a regular table at all the shows). Some of our staff have flown down from as far Perth and Brisbane to enjoy the evening which not only entertain but also allow them to appreciate diverse cultures.

Keep up the good work.

sorry to miss your Dinner tonight - (we are going as far as Roxburgh Park) but there will be other times.....

Have a great evening

Regards

World Goa Day 2009

1. Hi Oscar

What a great event! We had a lot of fun and it was good to finally meet you face to face!

I'm wondering if you could tell me what the names are of those popular Goan songs as my dad doesn't have the best memory these days!

It looks like the Bollywood dancing was a success! Please let me know if you need any assistance of any kind with anything you may be involved with in the future as I am more than happy to help plus I really want to keep in touch with my Goan heritage. I'm finding that I'm keen to learn more about it as I get older.

Thanks once again for a great night!
Tanya Vaz

2.  Hi Oscar,

wanted to pass on my best regards and to personally thank you for a great evening on Saturday, I’ve not been to a Goan dance before and have only recently re-connected with some Goan family that live in Melbourne, please do pass on my regards to Henrietta as well and I’m love to be kept informed of up coming events.

Regards,

Gary Fernandes

3. Hi Irmao,

I was to write to you soon after the show but got busy with some friends and was partying until late last night. Sorry for the delay.

The World Goa Day function on 22nd August 2009 was great, well organised and the food was superb. Sorpetel and egg plant were the best along the rest. Most of those present said Oscar shows are always organised in a different style and flavour and that is the reason many have to go back without tickets. Thanks for your great efforts and of your entire family. Hoping to see from you better functions in the near future and wish you all the best.

Regards to you and family.

Anthony Lobo

4. Dear Oscarbab,

5. Great!  Another feather in your cap and well deserved too.

6.  Hello Oscar,

My name is Paul D'Cunha from Werribee, Victoria, originally from Lucknow (India) where my Goan parents settled down in the early 40's.

We migrated to Melbourne (Australia) on the 13th Sept 1989 and today makes us exactly 20 years here in Australia, and I just remembered that today.

I attended the first ever Goan Show last month in the last 20 years that I have been here.

I must say Oscar that you and your Team members did really work very hard to give us all such a wonderful time.

9. Hi Oscar,

Great nite , Great fun and Great goan food. !!! that's all I can say, we had great fun.

I had no problems entering the place as I told them about the tickets and was seated at the desks.

I asked for you at the entrance, but was told you are busy. You then pass through me at the dance floor but you were busy with someone else and hence couldn't meet you then. At the end when I left couldn't see so thought will email you.

Thanks for everything. Loved every bit of it.

Thanks again

10.  Hi! Oscar

Just so that you may know who are- we came to the ' 7th World Goa Day' with Riona and Lionel, and had a good time.

We love Goa and liked to be transported there on this occasion, through Portuguese and Konkani music and  the food.

Thanks for the mail.

12. Hi Oscar,

All our friends who attended the dance were at the party last weekend and were still talking  about how much they enjoyed the dance
and telling people who were not there what they missed out on.  Looks like we will be needing a lot  more tickets the next time.
When is the next dance?  we enjoyed the dance just like we did all the others we attended.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK -looking forward to the next dance.

Regards from Bonny

World Goa Day 2008

1. Hello Oscar

Another great one pulled out of your hat!!
Well done, kudos to you and your team.

Cheers
Salus

2. Dear Oscar
The Soul Mates would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to entertain at the 6th annual World Goa Day and we're proud to part of that successful night. I do not believe in "anything will do" cause undertaking to do something with style and excellence forms part of my character. I believe in upholding my name "Fernandes" because that is my flag and you thought fit to give me the greater part of the responsibility to make this event a success.

So thank you once again in having the trust in me and I thank the good Lord for blessing me with success.

Regards to Hazel and your beautiful family
Joe

3.Hi Oscar

4.Dear Oscar,

Thought I'd give you some time to recover. It was a very good night. The music was good, the food was good and the few people we were able to speak to were warm and friendly. I only wish I had got to meet your wife and family, but I realise that they were all very busy. I hope the next venue is a bit closer to our geographical location. Please keep in touch.

Regards to your family.
Blanche.

Dear Oscar

Thank you for your email. Yes we both enjoyed the evening. The band was great and the food delicious.
St Kilda Town Hall is a nice venue. The catering was very efficient and the food beautifully presented.

Best wishes
Rita and Paul

Dear Oscar

Our group enjoyed the evening, especially the delicious food and opportunity to dance the night away! The band music was good and the dinner queues were well organised.
We would like to be kept informed of other events that MELGOANS organises. Well done!

Caroline Benjamin

Dear Oscar
We enjoyed ourselves in spite of the weather on Saturday, the travel from Geelong and with injury and age a part, it was refreshing to be with friends and witness the May Queen selection. Probably if Bonny and Tina did not accompany us we would find it difficult to drive as that is something we are not excited about. However, the food was good and the music was most enjoyable and so was the spirit, Congratulations! on a well organised social and continue to keep up the spirit .

Philomena Carvalho

Hi Oscar,

Thankyou to you, your family, organisers and volunteers for the show !!! Superb !!!
My personal feedback was I loved it - it was thoroughly enjoying.
General feedback that I got from my friends was they all enjoyed - they were particularly kicked with the band and food ! there were a few issues with choice of music and I will discuss it with you shortly But all in all - it was a grand success - and most are ready to come for the next one !!!

Melissa Coelho.

Hi Oscar,

Congratulations on organising another great event!!!!!
I had a great time.....
I will definitely get feedback and convey to you in person.

Regards
Christopher D’souza.

Dear Oscar,
A few comments I received.
On the night itself, a member of GOA said to me, Oscar Lobo's shows are always well organised and grand. The food was amazing and real Goan food. Amanda, could you please book tickets for the next event in Aug or Sept? I was taken aback as this show had not even finished and they are all looking forward for the other event of the Year. Good to know.
Another comment was from Liz table. The food was lovely and they enjoyed the show. The band was superb and every thing was well organised.

Dear Oscar,
It was a wonderful night. Music was great, food was great! Let me know when you are having another function.

Regards
Jacqui

Caro Oscar,
Congratulations on a wonderfully organized "festa". We really had fun, as you must have
seen, we danced and enjoyed the music. Once again, thank you for inviting us and please keep in touch and let us know of any Further functions.

Um abraço,
Mécia

Hi Oscar,

It was a great event and as always, the music by Replay was very good.
I guess I will hear feed back from my guest in a day or two and if there is anything worth I will pass it to you. I think the event was run efficiently and I am sure most of the credit goes to you all. I was lovely hearing the Konkani music between band stints and the pictures on the screen were a wonderful idea too…. Very nostalgic.
Well done on an enjoyable event.

Regards,
Lorraine

Afternoon to you Oscar,

The body is a bit sore today, hehehe, with all the dancing; I loved the marching music at the beginning that was so much fun, (Great Crack) in Irish, gee you guy's know how to put on a show, I met some Goan people at the table next to us. Nice friendly people,

Slainte Marian.

Oscar,

The show was superb!!! Nolan cannot stop talking about it and the wonderful lighting, tasty food, music and my crowd, 40 of them really had a ball. Most of them rang and everyone said they cannot stop talking about the show. Not to mention they also said that it was well organised, which was very satisfying to hear. Good on you Oscar, well done to you and your wonderful family and of course Salus and his family and his extended family. Everyone did a great job.

Hey Oscar,

We certainly had a very enjoyable evening and being our first, it was really something that we were happy to be a part of. The music, food and atmosphere was really good and even the cultural dance and other items. Congratulations on a well done occasion and will contact you as soon as I am organized with the GOAN songs on audio tapes.

Regards,

Mrs Philomena Carvalho.

Hi Salus,

3 cheers to you and Mr.Oscar for being the main persons in organizing the Grand Dinner Dance to celebrate the World Goa Day 2007 at Kingston City Hall on 25th instant. It was a grand success as could be seen by all. I enjoyed myself and it was good fun to be a part of this event. The folk dance was also great and so was the other dance and dinner. The band was equally good and they brought the crowd to the floor throughout. All my good wishes to you all for your future shows.

Cheers

04 October 2006

Good Evening Oscar

Firstly I must say that we had a most wonderful evening of entertainment on Saturday night.
The music was good so was the food and most importantly it was a great pleasure to spend such an evening with your fellow Goans.

I must say that not only we but also our guests commented on such entertainment and food at a very low cost, I must say that I am not aware of any where in Australia where one could get an excellent meal six hours of fun and entertainment and all that for $5.00 an hour, how do you do it Oscar?

Well we are now looking forward to your next event in February and will certainly try to make that too.

Our thanks to you and the committee for making the event a huge success.

Thanks again and God Bless.

Oscar,
Being in Melbourne for the past 4 years, 30 September 2006 (Goa day) would certainly be a remembrance for me and my family for a long time. This is the first well organised Goan function we have attended in couple of years.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for showcasing such a wonderful show. Although it was bit difficult to find the venue, but they say if there is a will there is a way, and we certainly found our way.

I hope my email encourages you to organize more shows in future. Lets not forget that Goans only need a reason to celebrate.

All the very best. Please keep my email address for future contacts.

Kind Regards
Jerry MIRANDA

03 October 2006

Hi Oscar

How are you?

I must say that the WGD 2006 was well organised!
- well set stage!
- very good ambience!
- very good band! n music!
- and last but not the least ...very good goan food! the xacuti and the egg plant stuff was fantastic! ha ha !!

Thanks alot for getting us the goan couple on our table! guess what ...while we sat along, she(the couple) asked my friend whether they knew any one by name Pretesh! I was zapped as coincidently! I am good friends with the couple's cousin from goa and i did mention to their cousin that i would be attending the WGD at melbourne! So it was such a small world to have been seated on the same very table out of all the tables out there!

Yes , once again i would love to thank you for organising this event and giving us an oppurtunity to break free from our every busy life and struggles! that too the Good old Goan style!

Looking forward for more event and yeah I would definetly like to keep in touch more often than just the WGD n Carnival celebrations! Incase you ever need help or volunteers...count me in!

Kind regards

01 October 2006.

Hi Oscar,

It was a memorable night!!. The father and son duo made it exceptional, nothwithstanding the dancing, food and the company. You, Hazel and the rest must be congratulated for your hard work, time and effort in making the night a successful one. Thanks for also making it possible for my family to attend and to have been
part of your celebrations. It is much appreciated. There were sincerely no complaints from my table, everyone had a fantastic night.

If you attended mass today the gospel was mainly about a group of people, e.g a committee set up say to provide the best in every sense for the community, but because the committee's views are very narrow and seek to only satisfy their objectives, they do not deliver what is best for all. At this point I thought of what you were doing, the welcoming of all for the benefit of all, certainly you must have the right message. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Kind regards

Charles Da Costa

Oscar

I attended last nights dinner dance at the Kingston City Hall and I feel I have to write and express my appreciation of a wonderful night. Alfy & Lidia Martins told me of this function and organized our tickets. What a wonderful night!! What a wonderful experience!! The food was beautiful but I expected nothing less after being introduced to your wonderful cuisine at Alfy and Lidia's home. The band were brilliant, and the father and son act was fantastic. I was very impressed at how all the young people embraced the culture from the homeland, whilst at the same time allowing themselves to become part of Australian culture and introducing their Australian friends to it as well. I am an ex-pat from Ireland, having arrived in this country some 37 years ago and we too love to congregate and enjoy music and dance in the many Irish functions that occur during the year. I am amazed that you can run such a fantastic night for a mere $30!! I am definitely coming to the February dinner dance and I would like to thank Alfy, Lidia, Salus and Linda for introducing me to this experience.

It was a fantastic evening and well organised. Completely electric environment well supplemented by excellent food, music and hospitality. I was personally overwhelmed with coverage and importance given to us.

* Hi Oscar,
The world Goa Day dance was par excellence and very satisfying to see so many goans mixing around so freely irrespective of caste or creed. The whole organizing of the dance was fantastic, specially you having taken care of everything, specially was stunned to see the 2 bouncers at the entrance and a fantastic buffet and the number of prizes the good band, the cultural programme and all this for $15???. Thanks also for allowing me to have my stall selling Goa sausages, vinegar, sannas, Rachedo massala, this is really a real big boost for upcomming goan enterpreneurs. Be assured of my support for next years world Goa day function. Thanks once again.

Ellis Fernandes

o Attending the World Goa Day function made me feel closer to my beloved Goa. It enabled me to meet other people who could converse with me in my home language of Konkani. Although the function was held for the first time in Melbourne, the quality was more than I expected. It can only improve from now on. I thank the organisers for putting up a show we all could enjoy.

Sophia Mascarenhas

o It was the best function I ever attended for the last 4 years in Melbourne.

In a nut shell: "Well organised, well attended, very Goan, very enjoyable and a night to remember for all the Proud to be goans of Melbourne". If place was more then there could have been nothing wanting. Let's have more to come and sucess always.
