Thank you for taking the time to check us out.

It gives me pleasure to welcome you to this site; created to keep our Goan culture and heritage alive - in our great City of Melbourne, where circa 9000 people of Goan origin reside. It is hoped that every Goan, their friends and those who are keen to know about Goa will come across this website whereever you are.

One does not have to be a 'member' to join us in the celebration of Goan events. However, one has to have a true spirit of friendship, respect and above all sincere wish to assimilate with one another.

Many of our Goans, who have made overseas countries their 'second home' celebrate Goan culture, language, literature, cuisine at least once a year on World Goa Day which is normally scheduled during the third week of August every year. There will be occasions when other functions arise from time to time, depending on the needs of people.

As Goenkars, we feel passionately about the piece of paradise (Amchem Goa). Not only does this relate to the beaches and mountains but more importantly; it relates to the people for whom nothing is too much trouble.

As Goans, we need to remind ourselves, that if we are to be a part of a multicultural society of Australia, we have to first remain united among ourselves and share our culture with other communities. To share is to double our happiness. Knee-jerk reactions, spanners at work, and tall poppy syndromes should not be a baggage that we may be proud to carry to an adopted country.

To survive is to change; to survive often is to change often for the good of oneself and the society.
